Dwayne Qualls Death and Obituary, Victim Identified in Pomeroy, Ohio Deadly Shooting; Suspect Identified
The Pomeroy Police Department has identified the victim in a deadly shooting. Officers say Dwayne Qualls died from a gunshot.
The shooting happened Friday evening in the 100 block of Spring Avenue around 6:30 p.m. Investigators arrested Wayne Leib in connection with the death of Qualls on Friday evening.
The incident remains under investigation by the Pomeroy Police Department with assistance from the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office and BCI.
Investigators says Wayne Leib was caught just after 9:30 p.m. after being on the run. He was believed to be armed and dangerous then.
Investigators with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) are on the scene processing evidence. Officers with the Pomeroy Police Department are also investigating.
Sheriff Keith Wood said investigators believe the shooting was planned — and not a random incident. He said residents are no longer in danger with a suspect in custody.
