Jill Demmel Hummelstown PA Obituary, Funerals with Hoover Funeral Homes & Crematory

Jill Demmel Death 1973-2022 – Obituary in Moderation: Jill N. (DiNinni) Demmel of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, has sadly and unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, October 09, 2022, leaving family, closer relatives and other loved ones in total devastations and sadness. Family and friends were devastated when Jill passed away.

Jill was born on March 28, 1973 in Harrisburg, to Ronald and Judith (Harman) DiNinni currently of Vero Beach, Florida, which makes her just 49 years old at the time of her unexpected passing while taking treatment at The Hershey Medical Center surrounded by her beloved family and other closer relatives.

Jill graduated from Hershey High School, received her bachelor’s degree in Education from West Virginia University and master’s degree in Special Education from Shippensburg University. She was a 2nd grade teacher at St. Catherine Laboure School. She was an active member of St. Catherine Laboure Church.

Jill most enjoyed spending time with her family and with her much beloved dogs Charlie and Maverick. She was very passionate about teaching and very passionate about her faith. She was very fond of every one of her students and enjoyed attending all their extra-curricular events.

In addition to her parents, surviving are her husband, Robert Demmel and daughters, Ashley and Lauren Demmel all of Hummelstown; as well as her sister, April DiNinni of Vero Beach, FL. She was preceded in death by her brother, Michael DiNinni, and sister, Sara DiNinni.

Our hearts are breaking as we feel the tremendous weight of this loss. Jill was a faithful friend, always including me when I felt lost and alone, an inspiring colleague, and a loving, dynamic teacher to my two boys. Even though Jude only had the privilege of having her for a few weeks, Jill had loved him since he was a toddler when I joined the SCLS family. She and Everett shared a special relationship, too; he loved helping her in the classroom and laughing at her jokes and stories. No one ever questioned whether Jill loved them, especially her students. She always showed you: through her joyful smile, uplifting voice, contagious laugh, and heartfelt generosity. To have done that—to have led with love every day and at all times—that is a life well-lived. ~ Stephanie Pupo Bader

It is with deep sadness that we notify our school community that on Sunday October 9th, 2022 around 12:30pm, our beloved faculty member Mrs. Demmel passed away. Mrs. Demmel was a 2nd grade teacher at SCLS for the past 7 years and was a very significant presence within our building. She not only taught 2nd grade, but also was integal in preparing them for First Penance and First Holy Communion. Her daughter Ashley also worked in our school during her breaks from college and is known by many of the students as well. Mrs. Demmel’s passing occurred shortly after complications from her cancer diagnosis. Mrs. Demmel was surrounded by her family and friends. We ask that you please continue to keep her family and the school community in your prayers. When something like this occurs, you and/or your child may have questions and be seeking additional information to help you process. We will do our best to answer those and share any information we are able to. We will be honest with you if we don’t know or if we are unable to share details. Individual reactions may vary and that is to be expected. If you would like to talk to someone about your feelings, please let us know. We will have the IU crisis team counselors available. ~ Saint Catherine Labouré School

Today I lost a coworker and friend and St. Catherine Laboure School lost an amazing teacher. Jill Demmel was wise and funny and had a heart big enough to hold every child she ever taught. “He was mine,” she would say about every former student, and would follow up with a happy memory of that child. Today our Lord said to Jill, “You are mine,” and took her home. All illness and pain are over. I would not hold her back from heaven’s joys even for one moment, but how deeply, deeply we will miss her. ~ Patricia Byrnes
