Katarena Nichole Wheat Death and Obituary, 24-year-old Woman Identified as Victim in Fatal Flint Township Crash

Flint Township police have identified the 24-year-old victim in a fatal crash on Saturday.

Authorities said Katarena Nichole Wheat of Flint died after she rolled her vehicle multiple times and was ejected from it during the Saturday afternoon crash.

Police responded to a 4:45 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, report of a crash involving an ejected person on southbound I-75 at Corunna Road.

Police said the woman, later identified as Wheat, was driving a Chevrolet Impala southbound on I-75 when she lost control near the exit ramp to Corunna Road.

The Impala rolled over multiple times and Wheat was ejected from the vehicle.

Her passenger, a 22-year-old Mt. Morris Township woman, was seriously injured in the crash. Police said she was rushed to a local hospital where she was listed in stable condition.

No update was provided on the Mt. Morris Township woman’s condition as of Wednesday, September 28 2022.

Speed and the lack of seatbelt usage appear to be a factor in this crash, police initially said.
