Shooting Burlington Vt – According to the police, a man was shot and killed Sunday night at a motel in South Burlington. On Sunday, a report of gunfire prompted South Burlington police to respond to the Swiss Host Motel and Village on Williston Road. Around 11 p.m., according to Chief Shawn Burke, police found a guy who had been shot. His identity has not been made public. Burke wrote in an email to WCAX, “This homicide does not appear to be a random act; the persons involved were known to one another.” A neighbor reported hearing gunshots followed by an argument outside to WCAX News.

Together with Burlington police and officers from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, South Burlington police are coordinating this investigation. Burke claims that authorities are looking into the possibility of a connection to a different homicide that took place in Burlington just a few hours earlier. WCAX News watched officers leave the Swiss Host Motel quickly and wind up on King Street in Burlington while we were there. You can hear what we think are bean bag rounds and police shouting at someone to “get on the ground” in the video we were able to record.

Although we are aware that someone was detained and sent to the hospital, we are unsure if this arrest is connected to the gunshot death that occurred at the Swiss Host Motel. The serious crime section of the Vermont State Police arrived at the Swiss Host Motel on Monday morning.
